How Dangerous Are You?

Have you ever thought about what makes a Christian dangerous to the devil? It’s the Word of God in their heart! Satan knows that Word can stop him dead in his tracks and thwart all his plans. So what is the tactic Satan always uses against the Christian?

The favorite tool of the devil is Distraction.  If he can create a diversion of some sort, enough to get your eyes off that Word and focused elsewhere, he can go in and steal the Word, uproot it right out of your heart before it has time to take root. Jesus explained this process to his disciples (Mark 4:15). Unless the Word is planted in soil that is nurtured and tended to, it can’t grow and will die. There will be no harvest.

Every Christian has experienced this. Every one of us can remember a time when we were inspired by a particular sermon, or received a revelation from God.   Remember the joy and excitement you felt? It’s like a light’s been turned on and you get a glimpse of something so utterly awesome, you know it’s a game changer. That new truth, that ah-ha moment, is actually a seed being planted in your heart by God. And the devil knows if he doesn’t do something quickly, that seed will sprout, take root and grow. You’ll become very dangerous to him.

So then comes the distraction.  The enemy’s studied you from birth, so he knows exactly what it takes to get your attention.  He’ll throw all kinds of obstacles and distractions your way in his attempt to derail God’s plan for you. And if he can’t touch you, he’ll mess in the lives of everyone around you. He’ll brew up every storm imaginable to swirl around you, anything to divert your eyes away from that newly planted seed. You can’t be allowed to focus on it, to nurture and feed it. The enemy knows that seed has to wither and die, or it could mean great harm to his kingdom of darkness, where every ray of light is a threat. A Christian who knows how to protect those planted seeds is extremely dangerous to the devil.

 Refuse to be Sidetracked

Whatever God has planted in your heart, nurture and feed it by focusing on the Word of God. Keep your eyes looking straight ahead towards Him. Remember, Peter only began to sink after he took his eyes off Jesus and focused on the storm. If He’s given you an assignment, He’ll provide you with everything needed. Phil. 1:6 says “…being confident of this, that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion…”  And those obstacles that present themselves along the way, we’re to lift up to God and keep moving forward.  Phil. 4:6 tells us, “Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and supplication, make your requests known to God.” He is faithful. We can trust Him to take care of everything and everyone around us.

As you keep your eyes focused on God, protecting and feeding the seeds of truth He’s placed in your heart, those seeds will grow and mature, producing a bountiful harvest for the Kingdom of God. Jesus said His followers are the light of the world (Matt. 5:14), a city on a hill that can’t be hidden. Allowing the light of God to shine through you, piercing the darkness, will destroy the works of the devil – just what Jesus came to do! (1 John 3:8).

Don’t fall for the enemy’s tactics. When that next storm starts swirling towards you, keep your eyes straight ahead and focused on Him. In so doing, you’ll become the devil’s worst nightmare!

So just how dangerous are YOU?
