Bride/Bridegroom

Fast and Pray!

What I’m about to share will not give you goose bumps, nor titillate your flesh in a manner that brings comfort and peace.  No, this word will provoke war; but it’s a war that must be fought!

For weeks now, the Holy Spirit has been urgently reminding me of a word given in 2017, saying that word is for NOW!”
In May of 2017, the Lord said,

You must take dominion over your mind, over your will, and over your emotions.  This is where your enemy has had the advantage over you. You are no longer just mere men.  You have been given authority over all the power of the enemy, and now you must choose to walk in it!  To do otherwise will be to give your authority and free will over to your enemy.”

One month later, He said,

“Your primary job will be to continually seek Me in prayer and fastings.”

Saints, as discussed in the previous post ‘He Has Nothing in Me,’ Jesus is our example of how to stand against the onslaughts of the devil.  Not only had Jesus completed a prolonged fast before the devil came to tempt Him, but He specifically told us in Matt. 17:21, the stronger devils cannot be cast out except through prayer and fasting!

As stated in Isaiah 58, God says fasting is to loose the bonds of wickedness, to undo burdens, free the oppressed, and to break every yoke of bondage!

We are either ruled by our flesh or by our spirit.  The Word says when we (our flesh) are weak, then we (spirit) are strong! Fasting is a TOOL to be used to weaken your flesh and get it out of the way, allowing the Spirit to reign and have dominion.

Before continuing, I’d like to share an excerpt from a word recently given by the Lord to Elijah (a prophetic friend) about the power of fasting.   He sent this to me out of the blue one morning, just as God was speaking to me about the same topic!

Fast and Pray!

“There is a glorious land full of freedom, peace, and joy;
A place where the Bride of Christ can experience victory, glory, and dominion.  This is Her highest secret – Her resting place.

If only we knew what lies just a level beyond!
If we understood how weak the enemy becomes when we press in a little longer, a little further.  It’s at this level we see into the spiritual realm.

Clearly seen are the wiles of the devil, his secret plots on full display.
The devil and his evil spirits are nothing here; they’re like mice caught in a cage, unable to hide.

Ah, but the devil knows the limits of the flesh of man and understands the boundaries of the human body.  His most powerful weapons are buried along these lines.

We all have a level we get to, before we abruptly withdraw.  This level is just past our comfort zone, where; though we begin to burn hot in the Spirit, we never allow the fire take us that one degree higher; where, as water, we can begin to boil and burn brightly for the Lord.  We surrender and give up just before reaching this level.

The body is expert in forming an alliance with the devil.  The human body prefers ailments, sores, laxity, excuses, shortcuts, and every pain imaginable, over allowing itself to be humbled.  Our flesh can be used against us by the devil as a formidable enemy.

Truth be said, the flesh cannot give us the freedom to fast; the fear of dying costs us more than we can possibly imagine.  As we refuse to allow the Cross to bruise and wound us, we revert to the cheap warmth and pleasures of the flesh.  By this, we have been robbed of our most reliable source of energy and strength.

Oh God, help us press to levels beyond our physical strength, to swim through the horrible flaming fires. May we see the grandeur and possibilities that lie just a step further in prayer and fasting.

The Spirit is calling the Church to die to earthly inclinations and human desires.  She’s being called to swim into deep waters, the place where victory awaits.

This is the power of the Spirit, the power every believer must have!  This is the resurrection to be experienced before the Lord comes, where impartation and strength flow.”

End of Word to Elijah

Continued

It is when we (flesh) become weak that we (spirit) are strong (2 Cor. 12:10).  This is why, throughout the Bible, whenever a need arises – from personal to national – a fast is called.

Moses fasted 40 days upon the mountain before receiving the commandments and revelation from God.  David said his knees were weak with fastings, his body lean and gaunt (Ps. 109:24). National emergencies were met with prayer and fasting as the people humbled themselves before the Lord to seek His provision and deliverance.

Queen Esther called upon all the Jews in her province to fast with her for three days after the enemy’s plan to destroy God’s people was revealed.  Look how God delivered them!

Do we think the plan of the enemy has been cancelled?  It has not!  We are at the precipice – the end of the end.  The time is NOW to press in as never before.  The word has gone out – ALL HELL WILL COME AGAINST YOU!

The Prince of this world is coming again – this time against the set-apart ones – the Bride of Christ.  He’s gathering troops from all over creation for the ultimate showdown!  These troops are being assembled around your family, your city, and your nation.  What should be the response of the Bride?

The words of Esther are again crying out, “Fast and Pray!”

We must fasten our eyes upon the Bridegroom, for He’s shown us by example how to prepare for an attack from the evil we see amassing before us.  He’s also told us we will not have dominion over these higher-level devils except through prayer and fasting.

As previously mentioned, this is a war that must be fought.  But Jesus has already given us authority over all the power of the enemy – everything we need for the victory.  But we must choose to walk in it!

I pray what’s been shared here ministers to your spirit, because I know the flesh will fight and war against this word.  But praise be to God, He’s provided the tool of fasting to subdue the flesh, granting us grace and strength of Spirit to go beyond our human strength.

Please pray over this message for confirmation and revelation of how this may apply to you.

  1. I, too thank you. “Forsake not assembling together.” I have been kicked out of more churches than I was invited to. I can do No Thing without Him especially complete the dying process. My belief and hope in Lord Jesus (the Word) only kept me alive and brought me back to the land of the living also. I owe Him everything more than I have to give. This journey would be utterly impossible. He has been saving me even from attempted abortions, being sold for $500 in ’71 (when I was 2 years old) to a pedophile and his wife as a sex slave: Called ‘closed adoption’ for 15 years. Satan’s influenced them to beat me to death. Another fiance shot me in the back of my head with 9mm from 3 feet away (God turned the bullet 90 degrees. It penetrated through the glass cabinet and out the wall of the house). My husband left me for a 15 year old girl, then divorced her for her best friend and left her, too.

Our church of ten years kicked me out, he and his family still welcome) lied in court to get custody of three kids and lied about receiving child support and used his new wife to open 2nd child support case. I didn’t know about that until I lost my job, house, car and Mc Donald’s wouldn’t even hire me; went to jail not being able to pay both (judge went to his church refused to look at cancelled checks showing fraud) No job, no living, but God. He kept me for some kind of reason. I am living with my grown daughter now. It was nice getting to know her again. I missed them so much. I pray for her dad’s family and her two brothers. God is amazing and strong.

    • Jerri,
I believe you were born with a strong anointing and call of God upon your life. The enemy sees this anointing and works desperately from your childhood to destroy it. The most powerful thing you can do is take all this before the Lord and give it to Him, as only He can bear it. Then go through your list and forgive each and every one of these people – really forgive them. Ask God to help you in this process, and ask Him to forgive them as well.

When you are finally able to let go of this, you’ll be able to receive and begin to walk in God’s will for your life. I will lift you up before the Lord this morning. God bless you, Jerri. Please stay in touch!

    • Apostle Paul rightly said “Yea, and all that will live godly in Christ Jesus shall suffer persecution” (2 Timothy 3:12).
The troubles, trials and temptations of godly living can be extremely tough! It never stops.
Naturally, many of us enter the Church, marriage, jobs and relationships expecting a bed of roses only to get the worst unimaginable heartbreaks.
The stories may be varied but always the same.
There is such little good to expect in this life, especially when Christ is not at the helms.

Sister Jerri, your story is very touching and hard, I believe there is a call of God on your life!
It may not mean going around the world nor appearing on TV nor becoming popular. It might just be that the Lord is wanting to draw you deeper into His heart, and I know He is wanting to reveal great things to you.
I believe you are one of “the hidden ones”!
A woman of your sort can make a great intercessor and a mighty prayer warrior, a teacher and an encouragement to many going through similar things you have gone through.
Fasting and praying will really be very helpful to you at this period.
The devil is under your feet!
You have come so close to victory and a glorious testimony is soon to be heard from you!

Your story encouraged me and I will pray for you!
      Remain strong in Him.

“For I reckon that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall
be revealed in us. Romans 8: 18

      Your brother,
      Elijah

  2. So really needed to hear this actually encouraging word. It gives me…motivation. please do pray for my walk and His strength in my life. This Word was salve to me. Thank you!!!

    • Dennis,
I pray the Lord order all your steps, and that He keeps you in His perfect peace as your heart is stayed on Him.
      God Bless You, Dennis!

    • Hi brother Dennis,
Your request to be prayed for caught my attention. This is especially important to me as i sense you are waking up to the need for fasting and praying.Fasting will help you in more ways than you ever imagined!
I do believe the Lord is calling you to come up higher with Him!
I am excited for you brother!
Do not let anything stop you dear brother!
God be with you and strengthen your heart and spirit.
      You have my prayers.
      Brother Elijah

  3. Thanks, Diana, for these encouraging words about fasting.

Like Jesus said, without Me, you cannot do God’s will successfully. John 15:5

We need to seek Jesus, to help us to do what God wants us to do. If God is wanting us to fast, He will give us the ability to fast, and apart from His help, we will not be able to do it, His way, successfully. God must get the glory, for everything good that we we do for Him. 1 Corinthians 10:31 Jesus wants to hear us thank Him, for helping us to do things, like fasting, successfully.
    1 Thessalonians 5:18

It takes trust in Jesus, to help us to do His will, before we will be able to start to do it. Peter had to trust that Jesus would help him to do, what He, asked him to do, to walk on water, before, he would start to try to do it. Matthew 14:28,29 It is the same principal with fasting, God’s way. First, we need to realize that we can’t do it ourselves, and then, we need to start to trust in Jesus to help us to do it, and when we choose to start to do it, then, we find Jesus, helping us, to be able to successfully do it. It is a bit like the footprints poem illustrates, when our strength fails, Jesus’ strength can step in, to carry us, with His strength.

It is like Paul said, It is Christ, who is living through me. Galatians 2:20 I can do it with Christ’s strength which enables me too. Philippians 4:13 It takes us having faith that Jesus can help us to do something for God, before we will start to experience His power, helping us to do it.

If Satan can get us to doubt that Jesus will help us to fast, then we will fail to be able to fast, God’s way. If we think that we have to try to fast, just by ourselves, without Jesus’ help, then we will we will fail to be able to fast, God’s way. We need a motto, like, whatever Jesus asks me to do, He will give me the power to do it, and believe in these words, to be able to succeed, at fasting, God’s way.

Like the scriptures say, we can do God’s will, if we walk in the power of His Spirit. Galatians 5:16, and, if we humble ourselves, and seek God’s help, He will help us. James 4:6

May we be open, for God to ask us to fast, and trust in Him to help us to do it, the way that He is wanting us to do it. May we do it for His glory, and for the benefit of His Kingdom, and thank Him for helping us to do it. God can do greater things, for His Kingdom, through us, if we are willing to obey Him, to fast, the way that He wants us to fast, with His help to do it.

    • Rod,
Thank you for expounding upon the fact that, even though the act of fasting involves our physical bodies, the Lord meant it to be used as a tool for spiritual purposes. As Jesus said in John 4:24, “God is a Spirit; and they that worship Him must worship Him in spirit and in truth.”

Of our own selves we can do nothing… But as Paul said in Philippians 4:13, “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.” It’s crucial that we not attempt to fast in our own strength, because the “little” strength we have will indeed fail. Every individual needs to bring this subject before the Lord in prayer, because it’s a very intimate matter. We must allow the Holy Spirit to guide us as to when and how to fast, and remember that everything we do is to be done “as unto the Lord.”
      God bless you, Rod!
